Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE) is a fine print publisher located in Bay Shore, NY founded in 1957 by Tatyana Grosman. Her vision was to make original lithographs and artist books, and she began working with artists such as Larry Rivers, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg. The work that came out of the printshop sparked a revival of printmaking in the United States in the late 1950s and 1960s. Bill Goldston joined Grosman in 1969 and has spent his tenure working with younger artists and master printers in the mediums of stone and offset lithography, intaglio, woodcut, digital printing, and bookmaking to continue Grosman’s legacy. Today, Larissa Goldston, Bill’s daughter and Tatyana’s goddaughter, carries on the tradition. ULAE is represented in the collections of many major museums including The National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Tate Gallery in London and the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. The Museum of Modern Art in New York began acquiring the first impression of every edition published by ULAE in 1960 and still continues that tradition today. Its time-honored practice of artistic collaboration, quality, and technical experimentation has continued to keep ULAE in the forefront of contemporary printmaking in the U.S. and around the world for over 60 years.

Our booth will simultaneously feature our newest collaborative projects and highlight our historically- significant innovative past. At the core is the experimental approaches to the traditional printmaking process our studio has championed in each of the artists' practice. The booth will feature new etchings by Charline von Heyl as well as unique work by Julia Rommel and Eddie Martinez. Because each of our artists present a diverse approach to mark-making techniques, our presentation will consider both contemporary and historical glimpses into how artists blurr boundaries within their practice, employing Jasper Johns, Joe Bradley, and Sarah Crowner as prime examples.
